Meet the co-hosts of VIMA 2012 – Sashi C Loco & Steve Northcott. For the 3rd straight VIMA, Sashi C Loco will entertain the guests of the biggest Independent music awards of the region. Sashi is sponsoring his emceeing services this year courtesy of Dragon Red events.

The artiste formerly known as C.Loco has been around in the industry since 1994.Starting off from a talent show called Asia Bagus in 1994 with his brother Land Slyde,they went on to join Yogi B and Point Blanc in forming the pioneering Asian Malaysian Hip Hop group Poetic Ammo.

Since going solo in 2001, he has released singles individually such as Legend of Boo, Jong Jong Inai, UVIP (main theme song for the movie SumoLah) and the latest ones, Hip Hop and Bintang.Now known as Sashi C Loco, his latest song Bintang feat Moe Nasrul had a successful internet launch together with the video. He was the host for VIMA 2009 and 2010 and will now complete his hattrick.

He has alsways been supportive of our efforts and also to help change the current music scene for the better. And its gonna be a smasher of a tag-team with Steve up on stage to keep the event tight and witty ” said Siva Zaphod Chandran,founder of the awards

Steve Northcott (Canada) is an award-winning musician, international comedian and travel writer currently based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In 2010, Steve created and began to produce an online travel documentary series focused on music titles, On The Beat and Path. Over the past 12 months, Steve has traveled to 17 countries, recorded an album’s worth of music with artists all over the world and is continuing postproduction on numerous documentaries.

Steve has enjoyed success as lead singer and guitarist playing in Kuala Lumpur rock band, the BENCHMARX. In 2009, they released their second full-length studio album and received local and international radio airplay. The BENCHMARX are two-time finalists of the Malaysian Global Battle of the Bands and are recipients of the “Most Exhilarating Exciting Electrifying Live Act” award at VIMA 2010 (Voize Independent Music Awards).

As an emerging star on the Asian stand up comedy scene, Steve Northcott has performed in Canada, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Beijing and Hanoi. He has been featured in numerous publications including TIMEOUT KL and Esquire. He is a regular performer on the Time Out Comedy Thursday and the Comedy Club KL stages.

Steve Northcott has seen his travel articles published in magazines in both Kuala Lumpur and Singapore and was co-author of Travel/Resident Guide, EXPLORER KL. In 2010, Steve was featured as one of the “50 Expatriates You Should Know” in Expatriate Lifestyle KL magazine.

Steve has spent the past nine years living abroad and proudly calls planet earth his home.

VIMA Music Awards presented by FMTnews”, is the main independent music awards for musicians from Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei. Winners of the award will go on to compete in the global music awards, Bite My Music Global Awards end of this month. (www.bitemymusic.com). The ground event for VIMA will be held at Cinta KL on February 19th, 2012 from 7pm onwards.
